Busy TAA People: Dr. Janet Salmons Authors Chapter in New Book on Research Methods

Janet SalmonsTAA member Dr. Janet Salmons, Research Community Manager for SAGE Publications, recently published a chapter in a new book, Handbook of Teaching and Learning Social Research Methods (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2023). The book “illustrates the wide range of approaches to teaching and learning social research methods in the classroom, online, in the field and in informal contexts.” Salmons co-authored Chapter 23, “Teaching research methods online: informal or semi-formal professional development.”

The chapter includes interviews with six for-profit and non-profit organizations about their efforts to serve the research community. Each organization was asked the same set of questions: What does the organization offer to whom? Why do they offer these learning opportunities? and How do they measure success? Salmon’s portion of the chapter featured the Textbook & Academic Authors Association and detailed its webinar program and facilitated writing groups. She also interviewed NVivo, a company that develops and sells data analysis software. Learn more about this study and recommendations on the Sage Research Methods Community. Congratulations Janet!
