Share a recent accomplishment.
I recently completed a website, QuickSwitch (http://quickswitch.info), that tackles the challenge of switching textbooks with a unique set of tools that reduce the time and energy it takes to adapt teaching materials to one of the texts I write. The site provides instructors with transition guides for major competing texts, a Syllabus Assistant, and a Lesson Plan Assistant. It’s the only website of its kind. I also recently updated Real-Time Updates (http://real-timeupdates.com), a unique website that provides instructors and students with information that keeps each textbook I co-author perpetually up to date.
What is your favorite textbook writing tip or strategy?
I frequently write the first draft of the major ad for a revision before I write the actual revision. It focuses my attention on the most important elements of the revision before I begin the process of preparing the manuscript. Remember the importance of maintaining a good relationship with the sales force of your publisher. Communicate with them through social media, and let them know you are available to assist them. They reps will appreciate it, and you’ll reap many rewards.
What is your best TAA experience so far?
Receiving the Textbook Excellence Award for Business Communication Today when the TAA held their meeting in San Diego, California, a number of years ago.
