Featured Member Erin McTigue – Exploring new terrain: Mentoring academic authors across the pond

Erin McTigue is exploring new terrain, recently embarking on a unique adventure in her academic career. After resigning her post as an associate professor at Texas A&M University and Associate Director of Texas A&M’s POWER writing services program, this fall Erin stepped into the position of Associate Professor II at the National Reading Education and Research Center of Norway, within the University of Stavanger. A full-time, flexible position, Erin will split her time between working remotely from her home in Texas and traveling to Norway for a few weeks each quarter.

In addition to conducting her on research and academic writing projects, Erin will present writing workshops, facilitate writing retreats, and work one-on-one with graduate students and junior faculty to help them create their optimal writing practices.

Member Spotlight: Susan M. Ford

TAA member Susan M. Ford is a Professor Emeritus with the Tacoma Community College Nursing Program and a textbook author in the nursing discipline.

She recently published the 11th edition of Roach’s Introductory Clinical Pharmacology as the sole author. It just hit the shelves in October 2017. She writes about pharmacology in the context of nursing practice – which has led her to contribute to two other textbooks and a number of online modules to compliment a 3rd nursing textbook. She is also a reviewer for a number of nursing textbooks.

Member Spotlight: Andrew M. Pomerantz

TAA member Andrew M. Pomerantz is a Professor of Psychology at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and both a textbook and academic author in the psychology discipline.

He recently published two textbooks: the brand new My Psychology (published by Worth, for Introductory Psychology courses) and Clinical Psychology (4th edition, published by SAGE). He has also published dozens of articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Member Spotlight: Timothy M. Henry

TAA member Timothy M. Henry, Associate Professor and IT Graduate Director at the New England Institute of Technology (NEIT), is a textbook author in computer science and information technology with additional experience in the professional ethics discipline.

His most recent publication, co-authored with Sara Baase, is A Gift of Fire: Social, Legal and Ethical Issues for Computing Technology, Fifth Edition (Boston, Pearson Education, 2018). He has published two other books, both co-authored with Frank M Carrano: Data Abstraction and Problem Solving with C++ : Walls and Mirrors, Seventh Edition (Boston. Pearson Education, 2017) and Data Structures and Abstractions with Java, Fourth Edition (Boston. Pearson Education, 2015). The fifth edition of Data Structures and Abstractions with Java is going through page proofs for 2018 publication.
