What are you currently working on?
I just had 2 new “academic trade books” publish: Digesting Foods and Fads and Sins Against Science: How Misinformation Affects Our Lives and Laws.
Share a recent accomplishment.
I was awarded the HAPS 2021 President’s Medal. HAPS is the acronym for the Human Anatomy & Physiology Society.
What is your favorite textbook writing tip or strategy?
If the words just aren’t coming to you, put the work aside and go for a walk. Being outdoors clears the mind.
What is your best TAA experience so far?
Discovering a non-fiction publishing company. For over a year I had been trying to secure an agent and/or publishing company for two books that were not textbooks. I discovered McFarland through a TAA blog; they liked my query letter and proposal and were pleased I discovered them through a professional organization. Without TAA I would still be on my quest!
