Member Spotlight: Paul M. Vitanyi
TAA member Paul Vitanyi is a professor emeritus at the University of Amsterdam, CWI fellow at the Netherlands National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science (CWI), and is both a textbook and academic author in the computer science discipline.
His most recent publication is the fourth edition of An Introduction to Kolmogorov Complexity and Its Applications published by Springer.
What are you currently working on?
Inductive inference, lower bounds upper bounds on algorithms, both using Kolmogorov complexity.

I have recently published several articles and completed the 4th edition of my textbook, An Introduction to Kolmogorov Complexity and Its Applications.
What is your favorite textbook writing tip or strategy?
D.E. Knuth’s books have been influential to my writing in the computer science discipline.
What is your best TAA experience so far?
I was nominated for the McGuffey Longevity Award.
