Inspiration for a successful writing practice: TAA writing workshops

Writing is like a sport-you only get better if you practice. -Rick RiordanA good writing practice takes just that–practice, as well as inspiration, organization, and determination. Support is also important, and institutions can play a key role in supporting and celebrating faculty authors by hosting writing workshops. Workshops provide faculty motivation, information, and resources that can help them achieve greater publishing success.

TAA can also play a role, by partnering with institutions to sponsor faculty writing workshops on campuses across the country. TAA’s workshops span a wide variety of topics focused on how to become a prolific scholar; write more, publish more, and stress less; advance your academic publishing record; develop successful journal articles; establish and maintain a successful writing practice; write fearlessly; and apply textbook authoring strategies to improve workflow and reach publication goals.

TAA’s sponsorship covers the presenter fee and the cost of bringing a presenter to your institution. The host institution is responsible for a fee of $1,750, which includes up to 100 TAA faculty memberships, available to faculty whether or not they attend the workshop. TAA provides an online membership application process that makes joining TAA easy for both the institution and faculty.

If you are interested in bringing a faculty writing workshop to your institution this fall, visit TAAonline.net/workshops to review the presenter panel and workshop descriptions or contact Maureen.Foerster@TAAonline.net to discuss presenters and availability.
