2015 TAA textbook award winners announced

McGuffey Longevity AwardThe Text and Academic Authors Association has announced its 2015 textbook award winners. Thirteen awards were given in three different award categories. One textbook was awarded a 2015 William Holmes McGuffey Longevity Award (“McGuffey”), seven textbooks were awarded 2015 Textbook Excellence Awards (“Texty”), and five textbooks were awarded 2015 Most Promising New Textbook Awards. Nominate your textbook for a 2015 TAA textbook award

Textbook Excellence AwardMcGuffey Longevity AwardTAA is now accepting nominations for its Textbook Excellence Awards (Texty), McGuffey Longevity Awards (McGuffey), and the Most Promising New Textbook Excellence Awards. The deadline for nominations is November 1, 2014; books must be received for judging by December 1, 2014.

The Textbook Excellence Award recognizes current textbooks and learning materials in their second or later edition that carry a copyright date for the previous or current year.

The McGuffey Longevity Award recognizes textbooks and learning materials whose excellence has been demonstrated over time. Eligible works must have been in print 15 years and be still selling. [Read more…]

TAA member receives highest award from NAK

The National Academy of Kinesiology, an honorary organization composed of Fellows who have made significant and sustained contributions to the field of kinesiology through scholarship and professional service, recently named Charles B. (Chuck) Corbin as the recipient of the 2013 Hetherington Award. Chuck has been a long-time TAA member and is the senior author of Concepts of Physical Fitness (17th ed.), which won a TAA McGuffey Award; Fitness for Life (5th ed.); Fitness for Life: Middle School, and Fitness for Life: Elementary School, all of which won TAA Texty Awards.
