Busy TAA People: Brenda Ulrich to Box in Fundraising Event

TAA Board Secretary Brenda Urich, an intellectual property attorney with Archstone Law, was selected as one of 30 first-time boxers to participate in Haymakers for Hope’s 11th Annual Belles of the Brawl event on October 10 at the MGM Music Hall in Boston. Watch her promotional video.

“In the four months leading up to the fight I have been undertaking an intense training and fundraising journey which will prepare me to step in the ring in front of 1,500 people and literally fight to KO cancer!,” said Ulrich.

Busy TAA People: Victoria Davis Earns Master’s in Education in School Counseling

TAA member Victoria Davis earned her Master’s in Education in School Counseling from Cleveland State University in May of 2024.

She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Cleveland State University and a Master of Science degree in Human Services, specializing in Family Life Education, from Lubbock Christian University.

Busy TAA People: Beverly Stein’s New Book Now Available

TAA member Dr. Beverly Stein’s book, Unlocking Meaning in Art Song: A Singer’s Guide to Practical Analysis Using Schubert’s Songs, published by Rowman & Littlefield, is now available on Amazon. Stein, a professor in the Department of Music at California State University, Los Angeles, signed a contract for the book with Rowman & Littlefield in May 2023. She credits TAA for helping her learn about contracts, and now that the book is published, for advice on marketing her book through participation in TAA Conversation Circles and other TAA resources.

Busy TAA People: Kent Kauffman Authoring Book on Legal Issues Facing College and Graduate Faculty

TAA member Kent D. Kauffman, J.D. has signed a contract with Rowman & Littlefield to author a legal, professional development book on the key legal issues that college and graduate faculty face in their academic lives. The book will be published in late 2024 or early 2025 and is tentatively titled, Navigating Choppy Waters: Key Legal Issues College Faculty Need to Know (Before the Semester Ends).

Kauffman is an Associate Professor of Business Law and Ethics and MBA Programs Faculty Liaison at the Doermer School of Business at Purdue University-Fort Wayne, and was a recipient of a 2019 TAA McGuffey Longevity Award for his textbook, Legal Terminology.

Busy TAA People: Dr. Karen Hardy Named President-Elect of AFERM

TAA member Dr. Karen Hardy has accepted a new position as President-Elect of the Association for Federal Enterprise Risk Management (AFERM). Hardy has written four books, including Enterprise Risk Management: A Guide for Government Professionals, which won the 2017 TAA Most Promising New Textbook Award; Mastering the Art of Success, co-authored with Jack Canfield, creator of Chicken Soup for the Soul; Building Self-Leaders: A Model Training Program for Public Sector Employees; and Destiny, Dreams & Decisions: Empowering Women for Success.
